These terms summarize guidebook conduct for website readers. They are not a complete contract and must be reviewed before anyone is charged. If a signed agreement exists for a cohort, that agreement wins.
The week you are actually joining
Teaching hours, community hours, and any diving sequence follow the source itinerary pattern unless a written coordination note says otherwise. Free afternoons are self-funded. Hotel guests fund transport to the volunteer site. Volunteer-house guests do not fund that site transport. Changing project content after arrival requires the lead and supporting documents. Inside two weeks of departure, dates and content are not to be changed.
Conduct
Keep volunteer and meal times. Unexcused absence can cancel a volunteer certificate. Do not invite unofficial guests into lodging. Do not room across gender in the volunteer house. Accept random rooming there. Quiet after 22:00. Follow school dress rules. Follow host-teacher direction. Follow the professional instructor on water days. Certification, including PADI Open Water, is skill-conditional.
Risk allocation as the guidebook states it

Tickets, delays, and the open arrival day
Friday in the source teaching week is open arrival. That flexibility is for flight reality, not for skipping Saturday’s launch. If you land Saturday morning, you may already have failed the first teaching-related block. Book to the pattern. If a delay is the airline’s, tell the greeter using the pickup description: flight information, opposite Kopi Bali. Do not freelance a taxi to a guessed address at midnight without telling anyone.

Follow host instructions, instructor instructions, and the guidebook’s guest rules even when a friend dares you not to. The volunteer certificate is conditional. So is underwater certification. So is being invited back. Terms, in this operator, are mostly conduct. Read them that way.
Certificates and public claims
You may not claim on social media that journer certified you as a teacher. You may say you participated in a documented volunteer-teaching week if you kept attendance. You may not claim a PADI card journer “issued”; if you certify, the training system and instructor process did that, skill-conditionally. Terms include how you talk when you get home. Talking is conduct.
The website’s lastmod of 9 September 2026 is an editorial date. It is not a contract start date. If a signed agreement exists, its date wins. If it does not, do not screenshot a page and call it your terms. Ask for a reviewed document before money moves.
What “self-funded afternoon” means in a dispute
It means you chose the activity, you paid, and the risk sits with you as the guidebook said. It does not mean staff must refuse to give you a driver list. It does not mean staff are liable because they answered “Ubud is twenty minutes.” Recommendations are not custody. If you want custody of leisure, stay in, or travel with a school chaperone whose job description includes that hour.
Disputes about certificates should start with the attendance log, not with a feeling of unfairness. If you were absent, the source rule is blunt. If you were present and the letter is delayed, that is an operations question, not a rewrite of terms. Keep them distinct.
